2018 Pre Season Social

Friends of Archi Velo gathered on a wet February evening in Siempre Bicycle Cafe, Glasgow  sharing in their collective defiance of another Scottish winter on two wheels and pre season optimism for the warmer, drier miles which lay ahead in 2018.

Opportunities for some informal networking preceded a brilliantly composed presentation from our guest speaker for the evening, Scott Mitchell. A carefully selected series of photographs explained how Scott’s relationship with cycling has developed from a chance meeting with Bradley Wiggins in Spain, to becoming the Team Sky photographer for five years, and most recently planning an exhibition of portraits capturing selected characters of the peloton.

Scott’s photographs provided a unique insight into the professional peloton. Specifically the vulnerabilities of riders often hidden by the sunglasses, aero helmets and various items of sponsor clad team kit on race day. Images of Bradley Wiggins in yellow and Mark Cavendish wearing the rainbow jersey still appear familiar but it was recognised by those in attendance that these will be the iconic sports photographs of our generation.

Archi Velo are extremely grateful to Scott for finding the time in his very busy schedule to come through to Glasgow and share his work. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours on and off the bike. Please check the events section of our website for details of our Post Season Social in October.
