Cycle to Work Day

  • West on the Green G40 1AW (map)

Archi Velo are pleased to be working with architectural practice, Sheppard Robson, and Clyde Gateway - Scotland's biggest regeneration programme - to celebrate 'Cycle to Work Day' (15 August) with a briefing on Glasgow's cycling ambitions, followed by a guided cycle tour of the Clyde Gateway regeneration area.

Entitled The Cycle Friendly City: Punctured Dream or Two Wheeled Revolution? this breakfast briefing, taking place at WEST on The Green, will see Neil Webster of Remit Consulting presenting his BCO research on rise of cycling and its impact on office design: The Market Cycles.

This will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Clyde Gateway's Martin McKay (alongside Sustrans' Daisy Narayanan and Sheppard Robson's Michael Dougall).

The breakfast briefing will be followed by a guided cycle tour around the Clyde Gateway regeneration area, led by CamGlen Bike Town.

The event is an opportunity to review our cycling ambitions, both nationally and locally.  It will look at how strategies to increase cycling levels in our cities can be incorporated into the property sector's ambitions to create greener, more sustainable and healthier cities.

Michael Dougall of Sheppard Robson commented: "With National Cycle to Work Day we saw a real opportunity to review and debate current strategies within both the public sector and the commercial property sector for encouraging cycling and therefore creating healthier and greener communities. This event will look at whether these strategies are working and consider solutions for creating more sustainable cities."

The breakfast briefing and guided cycle takes place at WEST on the Green, Templeton Building, Glasgow Green, on 15 August, 8am. The event is free and breakfast will be served. Guests are asked to bring their own bicycles for the guided tour.

If you would like to attend please RSVP to lisa@skylarkpublicrelations.com / 07825 225 414. Guests are welcome to attend the briefing; cycle or both.
